Nehemiah 11:1-2
Now the leaders of the people settled in Jerusalem. The rest of the people cast lots to bring one out of every ten of them to live in Jerusalem, the holy city, while the remaining nine were to stay in their own towns. 2 The people commended all who volunteered to live in Jerusalem.
As soon as I began to read Nehemiah 11 for the purpose of this devotional, I found that I could not go past Nehemiah 11 verse 2. Reading that lots were cast to see whom would go to Jeruslem and volunteers were commended, I had to read Nehemiah ch 10 which in turn made me go to Chapter 9…Which in turn floored my heart with fascination about the beauty of servitude.
However, short story… Chapter 9 I saw a great reflection of how powerful and loving God is through the repentant hearts of a people God calls His own and their commitment to honor Him for it. Chapter 10 I saw a devout plan by God’s people to honor that commitment. In conclusion, let your hearts reflect on all the things that God has brought you through and share that love with others as you serve. Also, let your ears hear the hearts of those you serve and hear what your God is attentive to as you serve. Yes..you are correct. There are two conclusions I came to from this venture Nehemiah 11:1-2 started. However, the third conclusion is my favorite.. In conclusion, If you want to spend sometime quality time with your Father and have a good heart to heart, there’s a good chance to do so in the way you serve.
The Beauty of Servitude today is we don’t have to cast lots to see who will go to the city and we aren’t looking to be commended …We serve because we’re just so thankful God loves us so much to send Jesus to save us.”
