We are so thankful for everyone who joined us for The Way 2 Serve Annual Support Dinner on July 24th! The theme of the evening was “Keeping Our Eyes on the Goal”. It was such an honor to have Coach Gene Chizik join us as our keynote speaker (pictured above, (pictured above Shane Kyles, Joseph Murray, Coach Gene Chizik, Matt Thomas and Courtney Ross).
During his talk Coach Chizik said, “When I stand before God one day He is not going to ask me about the national championship rings or trophies I have. He is going to ask me, what did you do with the gift I gave you?” From that we have been reminded of Romans 12, “So in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to the other. We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us.” This is the body of Christ!
During the evening we also shared the vision of the The Way 2 Serve moving forward. We are thankful for all that we have seen God do through The Way 2 Serve as churches have unified to serve together in the community in the last 10 years. Now, as we look forward to the next 10 years of ministry we hope you’ll join us in this focusing on this vision for our entire community: Serving Together to Unify and Grow the Body of Christ.
Check out this video that gives a glimpse into where we have been and where we are going. We think it sums it up nicely.
We cannot do God’s work alone. In fact, God has designed the church in such a way that we need each other to complete the task he has given us! That is why serving together to unify and grow the body of Christ is so important, and it is why we are keeping our eyes focused on this goal. We hope you will join hand-in-hand with us in serving together so that the needs of our community may continue to be met through God’s church and that the body of Christ may continue to grow.
As Shane Kyles said in the video, “We’re serving as a community, not just in the community. People that were served once are now serving. People that were being taught are now teaching. People that are being discipled are now making disciples. We’re seeing that shift in our community. We’ve seen God do amazing things—and we can’t wait to see what he’s going to do next.”
