Wow, is it really mid-February already? 2020 has come with a busyness for us like never before. Is it the same for you? I personally feel like there are so many day-to-day activities on my plate that I couldn’t find time to fit one more thing in. We have all experienced this. In the midst of a busy time, we are always tempted to say “Yes,” to one more good thing. One thing I have learned—the enemy will use “good” things to distract us from those things that are “best”.
We have a Savior who understands. Think about when Jesus was tempted by the devil.
The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.” Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” – Matthew 4:3-4
Do we see the temptation? Both stones and bread have good uses. In fact, when we are hungry, bread seems like a very good option! Jesus’ response, however, teaches us so much. “Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.”
In many areas of my life, I have been guilty of taking whatever is placed in front of me instead of intentionally living on “every word that comes from the mouth of God”. Whether we realize it or not, we do live on every word that comes from the mouth of God. I’ve been challenged to ask, “What is God saying to me?”, and “How and where is He calling me to serve?”
One thing is for certain—with many “good” things that we could give our time to, one of the “best” would be to engage in serving right here in our community. The Way 2 Serve offers many ways to serve on a weekly basis. Our home assessors have identified many families in desperate need of home repair. That’s where you come in!
Through this Spring’s “My Jerusalem” Serve Day on March 28, Christians all over the city plan to lock arms together and serve the community by completing many of these home repair projects. We typically say, “It takes all of us!”, and we genuinely mean that. When we, as the body of Christ, unite together to rebuild and restore the broken in our community, God does incredible works in human hearts. It is my hope that you can serve with us on March 28!
Can you pick up a hammer or rake? You can get absolutely serve on a home repair project!
Are you relational? We are sending out teams specifically to build relationships and follow up with those we have served.
Are you passionate about prayer? Consider joining our prayer team. We gather to intercede for specific needs on a regular basis!

It takes all of us together to serve in the community. Please put March 28 on your calendar—you can sign up to serve right now!
I am so excited to see what God continues to do as we serve together to unify and grow the body of Christ!
