Do for one of the least of these!
Matthew 25:34-40 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come,
you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom
prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and
you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something
to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and
you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and
you came to visit me.’
“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry
and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we
see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe
you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of
the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ ”
I once heard that you can not put a price on someone’s time. I
believe that is a very true statement. One reason I believe this is
because God works through people when they give of themselves and of
their time, and God’s work is priceless. Consistently giving a little
of your time results in long lasting relationships. These
relationships may result in bringing people to a personal relationship
with Jesus or strengthen their relationship with Jesus! You may find,
however, that it is your own relationship with Jesus that is
strengthened as well!
It is such a blessing to see God at work when a home repair project is
completed. But it is more of a blessing when people go back and build
relationships with the people whose home got repaired! Below is a
testimony of one of our ministry partners who has given his time and
God has blessed it.
“God led my family and I to a man who had been in a bed for 18 years
through Way 2 Serve Ministries. We became good friends with him and
his family because the Lord just kept telling us to go back. After a
year God put it on my heart to start a Bible study, which I must admit
was intimidating, but God showed up as He always does when I put my
foot forward. Through the Bible study God showed them grace and
freedom. God questioned their salvation and solidified their
relationship with Christ. He taught them how much they were loved and
that a relationship with Him was the cornerstone of life. They had
many questions that were not always immediately addressed, but were
prayed over and given time to find the correct answer. Several other
friends of mine, plus my wife and kids have also been hands on with the
Bible study and just basic helps and needs. The body of Christ has
definitely shown up in many ways. My doubts and inadequacies have
definitely been met by God in multiple ways. Every time I felt that I
might fail He showed up through the evidence in these people’s lives.
It is extraordinary what God has done when I have given only a little
of my time. He is faithful. We just have to be willing to serve.
When the Holy Spirit nudges you, don’t be afraid to take that step.
God will bless you with what He has planned based on first you obeying
His call for your life.”
It’s amazing how God blesses what we give, which is so small, and
expands it in His way. Please consider giving a little or a lot and
watch God use you, your gifts, and your time to expand His Kingdom.
